IC Bus’ Next Generation CE Series Standardizes FIRST LIGHT’s Illumination

At First Light, our mission has always been clear—zero.  Zero violations, zero accidents, zero fatalities, and zero excuses.  That’s why we’re thrilled to share that IC Bus has officially standardized First Light Illuminated School Bus Signs (ISBS) and Fully Illuminated Stop Arms (FISA) on their Next Generation Electric CE Series School Buses.

A Big Step Forward for School Bus Safety

Effective immediately, all IC Bus school bus models currently on order can include our ISBS and FISA options as a factory install. Moving forward, these will be standard on all Electric CE Series school bus orders, with expansion to internal combustion engine CE Series unit orders in August 2025. This decision underscores IC Bus’ ongoing commitment to safety.

“Safely transporting the children of our communities is a responsibility that IC Bus takes incredibly seriously. Making these First Light products standard equipment was a natural progression, considering their visibility impacts.”

Charles Chilton, Vice President and General Manager of IC Bus

Why This Matters

Our Illuminated School Bus Sign and Fully Illuminates Stop Arm increase visibility, reducing the risk of stop-arm violations. Some of their key safety benefits include:

  • Unmatched Visibility – Visible beyond 1,000 feet and readable beyond 300 feet, giving motorists more time to react.
  • Proven Effectiveness – Have been proven to greatly reduce stop arm violations by enhancing motorists’ recognition and reaction times as they approach a stopped school bus. Read study
  • Enhanced Safety Measures – Adds another layer of protection to existing IC Bus safety systems.

At First Light, we applaud IC Bus for prioritizing student safety and leading the way in school bus innovation. This collaboration reinforces our shared goal: ensuring that every child arrives safely at their destination.
